Find out moreThis full-bodied, solvent-based bituminous paint delivers an odourless and taint-free black film once dry and is suitable for use on most common building surfaces. Offering an effective corrosion-resistant, weatherproof and waterproof coating, it can withstand prolonged oxidisation and is impervious to low concentrations of acids and alkalis.
Fast drying, this bitumen paint provides 4m² to 6m² of coverage per litre, which varies depending on the porosity of the substrate, and 11m² of coverage per litre on non-porous surfaces. It is compatible with a wide range of materials, including brick, felt, wood, stone, concrete, asbestos-cement, aluminium, zinc, lead, steel and iron. It is predominantly used as a protective coating for concrete structures, brick, stone, concrete screeds and cement/sand surfaces as well as overcoating felt and wood. It also protects metal on a variety of applications such as gates, railings, fences, down pipes, gutters, storage tanks, ladders, stairways, fire escapes, corrugated iron sheets and more.
Preparing the surface is of vital importance to enhance the adhesion and life of the coating. All surfaces must be thoroughly dry and clean as well as sound and stable. Metal surfaces should be wire brushed to remove rust and for long-term protection, a rust-inhibitive product such as zinc phosphate or red lead should be used. Blistered or loose paint as well as tar-based paint systems should be eliminated. New galvanised surfaces should be treated with a proprietary etch primer or roughened with a wire brush.
Ready to use, this Everbuild paint should not be thinned and can be applied by spray or brush. A minimum of two layers should be added to the surface. The first coating should be left to dry before applying the second which typically takes two to four hours depending on weather conditions.
