This gas barrier membrane is designed to create an impermeable shield in your building's foundations, complete with a ventilation layer. Harmful gases and VOCs naturally rise through the soil and collect under the membrane, where they are safely dispersed into the atmosphere. The primary role of this gas barrier membrane is to keep these harmful substances from entering your building through cracks, construction joints or service openings in the floor slab.

For comprehensive protection, make sure the membrane covers the entire plan area of your structure, including all external faces, cavity walls and voids. In cases of contamination by hydrocarbons or VOCs, it is essential to choose suitable materials, as these compounds can migrate through unsuitable barriers. Please note:

Aluminium laminates are excellent gas barriers but will delaminate when exposed to hydrocarbon vapour/VOCs and are susceptible to oxidation due to moisture penetrating into exposed edges.
